Goldfinch 1.0

Here's my addition of yellow to my bird collection for the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge (not to be confused with the bug-eyed owl collection). This goldfinch now joins the blue jay and pink flamingo.

Although I've already shown these finished quilts on this blog, I thought I would round them up in this post because they are the fruits, I mean fish, of last year's Rainbow Scrappy Challenge. And now I'm thinking that fruit itself could make a rainbow quilt. And I should also mention that these are the fastest swimming fish that were able to escape last year's onslaught of kittens and cats.

And here are the surviving swans or origami cranes from last year's Rainbow Scrappy Challenge. It's nice to be reminded, here in March and heading into April, that there's a full rainbow waiting for us at the end of the year.

lol! You are so clever! Only one reason why I want to be friends with you!
Let's start with the fish, how fabulous are they? Hope you're thinking of entering them in a show so people can ooooh and aahh over them. Ditto the swans. So clever and excitingly colorful.
The new color challenge is so smart too, animals of the given color? The very fact that you have finished these two quilts makes me feel so behind. I have not done a thing with last year's blocks! Impressive. As we go househunting on bigger lots I remember what you told me about 5 acres and eejits.
LeeAnna at not afraid of color.

As I opened your site, I looked out the window at my deck and a goldfinch has just landed on my feeder! That was serendipity, right? I love seeing what new animals you come up with each week. Fruits would look wonderful in a scrappy quilt.

Love the goldfinch. Do you have a book of paper pieced birds or are you making your own patterns?

I think I have said this before, but you have been my biggest inspiration in the RSC15. I love what you have done with all of your scrappy animals! I think your owls are my current favorite!

Great Goldfinch block - you've captured his essence quite rightly! We've been watching lots of them at our feeders for the past few weeks. I hope all the birds are safe from the kittens and cats!

Your goldfinch looks perfect! Is it paper pieced? I can't wait to see him join the flock!

Wow, the swans make a lovely quilt. I love the whimsy of the fish swimming in two directions!

Goldfinch is the state bird of Iowa! I always love to watch them in the gardens at the feeders.

Looking forward to some fruits. I need some ideas to complete my tea towel quilt. Looking forward to fruits and veggies for a border for my garden party quilt.

How's that book coming?
